I tell of my day-to-day experiences in a funky Japanese town from my American viewpoint. This blog could also be called 'Bizarro World', 'Notes From Kyushu, a Smaller Island', or 'Teaching English in Japan: Smash Your Ego in 10 Easy Lessons."

On the phone, part II

Well, it looks like I didn't have to do anything after all. Hiro's mom called back this morning and confirmed dinner tonight at seven. The first thing I said after greeting her was, 'Please speak very slowly!!' : )

How nice you are invited by Hiro's mother!! I hope you'll have a great time with them. Please tell me how it is after today's dinner!

By the way, I started learning tea ceremony in Osaka. My teacher is my teacher's mother in law of Ikebana. So I go to their home once a week and learn tea ceremony and Ikebana. You said you are interested in Ikebana, so I talked to my teacher about you. She said she can introduce a teacher of Ikebana who lives in your district and can speak English to you at anytime. So, if you can stay another year and you want to learn or are interested in Ikebana, please let me know.
Ikebana is not difficult. If you like flowers, you can enjoy it!!
